About the position

QuantumScape developed the industry's first anode-less cell design, which delivers high energy density while lowering material costs and simplifying manufacturing. Our innovative battery cell technology can store energy more efficiently and reliably than today's lithium-ion batteries. The Tax Director is responsible for defining tax policies, developing tax strategies and implementing tax processes and procedures. This position is an individual contributor role who will work with 3rd party service providers to design the optimum corporate tax structure most suitable for the Company's long-range business model and plan that would provide the long-term tax benefit for the Corporation which will include in person collaboration with auditors and others. The Tax Director also works with Legal and Business Dev to explore, identify, apply and/or implement various tax benefits and tax saving initiatives with various in person meetings and connection points.

Responsibilities

  • Define tax policies and develop tax strategies.
  • Implement tax processes and procedures.
  • Work with 3rd party service providers to design corporate tax structure.
  • Collaborate with auditors and other stakeholders.
  • Develop tax provision model for quarterly income tax reporting.
  • Prepare journal entries for tax-related accounting items.
  • Drive timely completion and filing of Federal, CA and multiple state tax returns.
  • Manage payroll withholding taxes at Federal and state levels.
  • Monitor and report CA sales and use tax.
  • Handle CA Sales Tax Exemption reporting and compliance.
  • File and appeal property taxes.
  • Report Delaware franchise tax.
  • Provide guidance on foreign entity tax matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field.
  • 12+ years of professional experience in industry.
  • Certified Tax Professional is highly desired.
  • Strong business, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • At least 10 years of experience in all areas of tax listed.
  • Experience with tax provision software.
  • Knowledge of Tax Accounting process within SAP platforms.
  • Prior experience with multi-jurisdiction tax compliance.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet stringent deadlines.
