About the position

The Head of Strategic Partnerships will lead strategic partnerships to expand and diversify the funding portfolio the Health Data Collaboration - Safety and Effectiveness Program (HDC-SER). The HDC-SER program is a key and growing portfolio of public health and safety surveillance studies for pharmaceutical, biologic, and medical device industry. HDC-SER is housed in the Division of Therapeutics Research and Infectious Disease Epidemiology (TIDE) within the Department of Population Medicine. TIDE serves as the coordinating and analytic center for several national research initiatives, including FDA Sentinel System and Innovation in Medical Evidence Development and Surveillance (IMEDS) program. TIDE is at the forefront of the use of Real-World Evidence (RWE) to support research and decision-making, with an emphasis on large-scale, multi-site collaborations. The Head of Strategic Partnerships will set and implement the strategy to meet goals for the program. Qualified candidates will be eligible for a Harvard Medical School faculty appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the program's strategic growth plan and meet annual program goals.
  • Spearhead strategic planning, including establishment of annual program initiatives with corresponding financial goals.
  • Accountable for the development and implementation of initiatives and tracking metrics.
  • Lead business development activities to meet strategic growth goals.
  • Develop an external outreach plan to increase program visibility.
  • Oversee outward-facing communication and represent the program at scientific conferences.
  • Establish and cultivate sponsor and partner relationships.
  • Serve as the program's lead point-of-contact for study funders and collaborators.
  • Oversee pre-award team activities including proposal development and project monitoring.
  • Serve as scientific subject matter expert and lead scientific proposal writing.
  • Mentor/co-mentor colleagues.

Requirements

  • Doctorate degree (PhD, MD, PharmD) in public health, epidemiology, health policy, or related fields.
  • At least 15 years' experience in academic, government, consulting, or life sciences/biopharma settings.
  • Substantial experience in designing and implementing scientific studies.
  • Experience overseeing and managing delivery of scientific work products.
  • Experience in leading strategic planning and operational activities.
  • Experience interacting with US FDA and EMA regulatory review preferred.
  • Experience leading successful scientific proposals.

  • Record of scholarly achievement sufficient for Harvard Medical School faculty appointment.
