About The Position

GR0 is seeking a Director of SEO & AI Search to lead the evolution of its core service line. This role is for an experienced individual who understands the future of search, has the ability to build for it, and wants to lead a team. The Director will own outcomes and have resources, a team, and a client portfolio to leverage deep SEO expertise and AI fluency. The position involves managing a department of SEO managers, driving client retention and results, and staying ahead of industry trends. The role also requires building new processes, capabilities, and revenue streams, fixing inefficiencies, and identifying new opportunities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on SEO experience.
  • 2+ years of people management experience.
  • Agency experience is required.
  • Proven track record managing managers and leading high-performing teams, including offshore teams.
  • Deep expertise across technical SEO, content, and off-site disciplines.
  • Financial acumen with P&L ownership experience.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for AI's role in search and the future of discovery.
  • Strong executive presence: comfortable on pitch calls, client calls, and the conference stage.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with D2C brands and performance marketing environments.
  • Prior success managing offshore talent across time zones.
  • Entrepreneurial background or history of launching new initiatives inside an agency or startup.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a talented team of SEO managers, fostering a culture of high standards and psychological safety.
  • Conduct weekly 1:1s focused on coaching and development.
  • Serve as a senior voice on strategy calls, QBRs, and escalations for a diverse client portfolio.
  • Proactively identify at-risk accounts and develop retention plans.
  • Develop and execute full-funnel SEO strategies including technical audits, content roadmaps, backlinking, and digital PR.
  • Oversee cross-platform SEO approaches across Google, Bing, Amazon, and other platforms.
  • Manage the department's P&L, capacity planning, and tooling decisions.
  • Contribute to sales pitches and business development efforts.
  • Lead GR0's point of view on generative engine optimization and ensure the team stays ahead of AI search developments.
  • Build new processes, capabilities, and revenue streams within the SEO department.
