About The Position

The Director of Sales will lead and direct the company’s short and long-term sales strategies in support of its overall mission, including growth objectives, KPI’s and development of the sales staff. This position will have direct responsibility for driving innovation, defining, and refining the company’s sales roadmap, as well as championing robust go-to-market sales strategies and tactics. This senior level position requires a strong and credible leader with a demonstrated track record of success in delivering sales results in a fast-paced, customer focused organization known for high standards and excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ progressive sales leadership experience in a customer-focused environment with a successful track record for growth and innovation
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a formal leadership position with full responsibilities, which include coaching, training, development, and performance management
  • Demonstrable experience in developing and executing effective sales campaigns that offer grassroots and customer/community campaigns in combination with direct mail and digital campaigns
  • Analyze and evaluate complex data, prepare, and effectively communicate sales strategy based on data
  • Solid strategic skills and capacity to understand the business from both a market and P&L perspective
  • Exhibits the ability to build team cohesiveness, establish key relationships and build a high degree of trust both internally at levels of the organization and externally with customers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to deliver effective presentations at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to successfully guide projects from concept to completion on time and on budget
  • Ability to forge relationships and negotiate with external vendors as needed
  • Requires the use of reliable personal transportation, valid driver’s license, and good driving record

Responsibilities

  • Deliver annual sales and profit goals (top line and bottom line)
  • Accelerate growth and increase market share in core fundraising business
  • Create effective sales tools and adapt when needed
  • Create and utilize metrics and analytics that will enable the company to proactively anticipate customer needs and market trends
  • Develop and implement new programs and service channels
  • Enhance and protect the company’s position and reputation as a leader in the fundraising industry
  • Direct the staff of the Inside Sales team and Field Fundraising, while developing and executing appropriate training for respective individuals
  • Develop and implement short and long-term sales strategies with a strong focus on lead generation to achieve sales objectives that meet or surpass goals and are consistent with corporate sales philosophies
  • Research and analyze new markets to identify new sales channels
  • Deliver sales results by properly on boarding, training, leading, and developing a focused team which thrives on growth and innovation
  • Oversee all sales activities including but not limited to: Lead generation and database management
  • Metrics published weekly, by period and annually; track/rank and post goals by associate
  • When on track, share learnings with associates who are off track to develop the team
  • When off track, develop strategies and tactics to get back on track
  • Publish results and plans
  • Assistance in trade shows leadership and coordination
  • Sales collateral and support materials
  • Actively monitor industry trends and align sales plans accordingly
  • Manage the field fundraising, inside sales representatives, including hiring, on boarding, coaching, training, development, and performance management with a strong emphasis on regular and routine feedback
  • Lead ideation and innovation strategy sessions to uncover and execute actionable sales opportunities
  • Prepare and consolidate forecasts to meet the overall sales objectives of the company
  • Develop and implement practical solutions to critical project-related issues which may impede success
  • Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams and outside partners to ensure that deliverables are executed and delivered on time, on-budget and exceed company goals and customer expectations
  • Evaluate and develop strategic alliances with other Ilitch companies and potential business customers in accordance with business objectives to drive new sales
  • Develop and deliver innovative training that builds on sales techniques which better prepares staff to increase sales and support the company’s strategies and business goals
