About the position

SRS Distribution, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Home Depot, operates under a family of distinct local brands encompassing more than 760 locations across 47 states. This is an onsite position located at our corporate office in McKinney, TX. The role involves developing and implementing divisional short and long-range strategic safety goals, objectives, and programs to achieve and maintain a safety-conscious culture. The position requires providing assistance as a mentor and advisor to Regional Managers (RMs), Regional Vice Presidents (RVPs), and Senior Vice Presidents (SVPs) to promote compliance with company policies, industry standards, governmental regulations, and customer requirements. Additionally, the role includes overseeing employee health/safety training, providing strategic leadership for safety and environmental programs, and conducting investigations on major work-related incidents.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement divisional short and long-range strategic safety goals, objectives and programs to achieve and maintain a safety-conscious culture
  • Provide assistance as a mentor and advisor to RMs, RVPs and SVPs to promote compliance with company policies, industry standards, governmental regulations and customer requirements
  • Implement, oversee and monitor effectiveness of employee health/safety training curriculum utilizing both on-line computer-based training tools and in-person training sessions
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for Heritage's safety, DOT and environmental programs, policies, and procedures, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
  • Identify and anticipate environmental, health and safety (EHS) concerns/hazards, recommend and implement solutions
  • Provide knowledge and expertise for compliance with key governmental regulations including OSHA, DOT and other federal, state, or local regulations
  • Conduct in-person formal investigation on all major work-related incidents and issuing a report on same highlighting the root cause(s) of the incident and recommending any policy/procedural suggestions, if any, to upper management
  • Lead the development, training and compliance efforts of Regional Safety Managers
  • Support Greenfield and Acquisition initiatives within division
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety + 10 yrs. relative experience
  • 510 or 511 OSHA ; OSHA Instructor preferred
  • CSP, CHMM or equivalent certifications highly desired but not required
  • Travel requirements up to 50%
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of CFR 49 Regulations- DOT Hours of Service, Driver Qualification Files, CSA and Hazardous Materials Regulation
  • Must be willing to provide guidance, understanding and mentorship in a diverse environment
  • Considered subject matter and technical expert
  • Thorough understanding of Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action
