About the position

The Director of Quality for mophie will drive and oversee quality engineering and compliance for new products as well as all post-launch maintenance engineering projects. The Director of Quality will play a critical role in the product development lifecycle, ensuring product performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance to the highest standards from development through launch. This leader will also be responsible for continuous improvement, addressing quality issues, and cost engineering projects post-launch. Two functional groups will report to this role: the Quality Engineering & Regulatory Compliance team based in China, and a Maintenance Engineering team for in-market products. This role will also be responsible for intake of quality improvement projects for the mophie organization, as assigned by the corporate Voice of Customer function. This leader and their team will be working cross-functionally with engineering, product development, product management, supply chain, and manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead quality engineering efforts during the new product development (NPD) process, ensuring products meet internal standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and implement quality plans, strategies, and testing protocols for new products, from early concept through production.

  • Drive regulatory compliance for new products in alignment with industry standards, regional regulations, and customer requirements.
  • Oversee post-launch quality activities, including product performance monitoring, issue resolution, and customer feedback integration.
  • Lead root cause analysis for field failures and quality issues, driving corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to resolve problems efficiently and sustainably.
  • Champion continuous improvement projects aimed at reducing costs and increasing customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and manage post-launch quality metrics, including return rates, failure rates, and customer complaints, ensuring transparency and continuous tracking of product quality.
  • Partner with manufacturing and engineering teams to drive cost engineering initiatives that do not compromise product quality or performance.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize manufacturing processes, materials, and components to reduce costs while maintaining or improving product integrity.
  • Ensure that continuous improvement projects contribute to cost-saving objectives while upholding compliance and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a quality management role in the consumer goods, preferably in consumer electronics.
  • Deep understanding of quality control methodologies, root cause analysis, and corrective action processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify potential quality issues early and take proactive steps to resolve them before they impact product distribution.
  • Excellent ability to translate user requirements and experiences to technical requirements and, in turn, test protocols to validate the design to those requirements.
  • Experience with cost engineering and continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
