We believe there is substantial opportunity to further accelerate top-of-funnel user acquisition by expanding into new opportunity spaces, deepening technical excellence, and building a forward-looking AI-native search strategy. We are looking for a leader to join us who will work on the following: Set and execute a bold, proactive SEO growth strategy Identify unexplored pockets of high-value organic traffic Elevate technical and programmatic SEO at scale Define and build eBay’s Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) strategy Position eBay to win in AI-powered answer ecosystems including Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and emerging platforms. This is a high-impact leadership role at the intersection of technical SEO, AI-driven discovery, product strategy, and cross-functional execution.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in SEO, organic growth, or search strategy
  • 4+ years leading large-scale SEO programs at enterprise or marketplace companies
  • Deep expertise in technical SEO at scale (large site architecture, programmatic SEO, structured data, crawl optimization)
  • Demonstrated success driving incremental organic user growth in competitive environments
  • Strong understanding of: AI-driven search experiences, Large Language Models (LLMs), Generative search ecosystems, Entity optimization and knowledge graphs
  • Experience optimizing for: Featured snippets, Voice search, Conversational interfaces, AI answer surfaces
  • Strong analytical fluency with tools such as Google Search Console, Similarweb, Screaming Frog, SEMrush, and emerging AI visibility tools

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a forward-looking SEO strategy to substantially grow top-of-funnel user acquisition
  • Identify unexplored keyword, content, and indexation opportunities across eBay’s massive supply base
  • Lead technical SEO initiatives spanning site architecture, internal linking, crawl efficiency, schema markup, index health & more
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Analytics, and Category teams to embed SEO into platform development
  • Define eBay’s role in AI-driven answer ecosystems
  • Develop frameworks for optimizing structured data, content signals, and entity authority for LLM discoverability
  • Ensure strong presence within Google AI Overview, ChatGPT, Gemini, Emerging AI search and answer platforms
  • Build strategies for featured snippets, conversational answers, and generative summaries
  • Establish measurement systems to track visibility and traffic impact from AI answer engines
  • Serve as the company-wide expert on modern search (traditional + AI-native)
  • Inspire and elevate the current SEO organization with a clear point of view and strong strategic direction
  • Build and mentor a high-performing team of global SEO product managers, data scientists and analysts
