About the position

The Director of Process Engineering oversees cement process engineering, plant automation, and plant information support for all plants. This position directs the development, optimization, and implementation of efficient and effective cement manufacturing and operational processes to increase plant efficiency and to reduce plant manufacturing costs. The position also participates in the scalability of existing operations as well as seeking new acquisitions to support the company's business goals and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
  • Leads the development and execution of the company's process engineering, automation, and information strategy to drive operational excellence.
  • Sets long-term goals and objectives for process, automation, and information improvements, ensuring alignment with overall business strategies.
  • Manages and coaches a team of process engineers, cement milling engineers, automation engineers, and an information administrator to foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and technical expertise.
  • Provides guidance, training, and performance management to ensure the team meets engineering and operational targets.
  • Identifies and provides training and development opportunities for regional process, automation, and information systems staff.
  • Mentors Process Engineers to provide growth and development opportunities for them.
  • Oversees the design, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Develops Key Performance Indicator's (KPl's) and stretch targets to measure the effectiveness of process improvements and report results to senior leadership.
  • Analyzes and recommends process, automation, and information improvements needed to optimize operating conditions to enhance productivity and quality.
  • Identifies and executes cost-saving opportunities without compromising product quality or safety.
  • Provides support and assistance to the members of the Process, Energy, and Alternative Fuels (AF)/ Alternative Raw Materials (ARM) Task Forces.
  • Manages the sustaining the company's Capital Projects program to include annual capital project submittal and approval timeline, annual capital project review meetings with Manufacturing & Technical Services (MTS)/ Group Technical Services (GTS), and capital project submittals.
  • Serves as the company's Service Now capital project program super-user.
  • Manages completion of annual process reporting and periodic production meetings.
  • Collaborates with Solutions (R&D and Product Development) teams to integrate new technologies and processes into manufacturing operations.
  • Assumes project management or other role as required for specific plant improvement projects.
  • Provides written and oral presentations to all levels of the organization.
  • Initiates meetings with regional leadership to ascertain process, automation, and information system opportunities for functional area improvement and to advise regional leadership of improvement opportunities.
  • Works closely with other departments (e.g., GTS, Quality, Maintenance, Commercial, and Regional Operations) to identify process bottlenecks and develop solutions that enhance overall performance.
  • Partner with project management teams to ensure timely and on-budget execution of process improvement initiatives.
  • Maintains Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) certification and ensures that all department staff also maintain Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) certification.
  • Ensures all process engineering, automation, and information systems activities are compliant with relevant industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
  • Leads efforts to implement sustainable and environmentally friendly manufacturing practices.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
  • Minimum 4 Year - Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in cement manufacturing - process engineering.
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in technical aptitude.
  • Proficient in project management skills.
  • Ability to quickly troubleshoot and resolves problems.
  • Ability to teach and develop others.
  • Ability to influence internal and/or external constituents.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy.
