About The Position

Jefferson Lab is seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead the Lab's enterprise-wide information technology strategy and operations. The CIO reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and provides leadership for our multi-year business system modernization strategy, cybersecurity, enterprise application development and support, network infrastructure, and records management. The CIO is accountable for defining and delivering IT capabilities that support the Lab's delivery of excellence in science and operations. The role requires a strong focus on operational excellence, innovation, and building collaborative relationships across the lab to position IT as a mission enabler.

Requirements

  • 15 or more years experience in IT
  • 5 or more years IT leadership experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or relevant discipline
  • Strong track record of working collaboratively with diverse leaders to communicate IT strategies and build consensus around key initiatives.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, hire, and inspire high-performing IT teams with a focus on teamwork, respect, transparency and accountability.
  • Working knowledge of key business and IT functions, including human resources, procurement, software applications, network infrastructure, desktop support, data centers, records management, document control, and project portfolio management.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in business operations and IT service delivery, with a consistent focus on innovation and mission enablement.
  • Ability to manage budgets and allocate resources in resource constrained environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement enterprise-wide IT strategy aligned with mission and operational goals.
  • Lead business system modernization strategy.
  • Ensure cybersecurity compliance with federal regulations.
  • Ensure an effective IT governance process in order to responsibly plan, develop, and implement effective management and business systems to support and achieve lab goals.
  • Oversee IT budgets, procurements, and workforce recruiting, retention, and development.
  • Foster effective working relationships with across the lab, DOE and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure the division staff and subcontractors are fully aware of their individual responsibilities to promote a safe, healthy and environmentally sound work area.
