About The Position

The Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing the financial operations and financial strategic planning of the company. This role involves planning, developing, organizing, implementing, directing, and evaluating the organization's fiscal function and performance. The Director will establish credibility for the finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports, and financial trends to support senior management. They will also provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues, including evaluating potential impacts of new programs, strategies, or regulatory actions, reviewing significant agreements/contracts, and evaluating human capital-resource planning decisions. The role includes leading annual and monthly budgeting/reforecasting processes, managing financial accounting closes, reconciling accounts, maintaining accounting systems interfaces, and ensuring financial statements comply with GAAP. Additionally, the Director will support the parent company's annual audit, enhance and implement organizational policies and procedures, drive cash flow performance, provide technical financial advice, and evaluate the finance division structure for continuous improvement and professional development opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive finance or accounting experience, including experience in a leadership role.
  • Prior experience working in a SaaS, software, ore technology company.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with stakeholders and collaborate cross-functionally across departments.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of deferred revenue, revenue recognition, and subscription-based models preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central ERP is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization's fiscal function and performance.
  • Establish credibility for the finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends to support the president, parent company and other senior management in performing their responsibilities.
  • Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the organization: Evaluation of potential impacts resulting from new programs/strategies/initiatives, and/or regulatory actions. Review of significant agreements/contracts. Review and evaluation of human capital-resource planning decisions.
  • Lead annual and monthly budgeting/reforecasting processes through education of leadership team on financial issues impacting department budgets.
  • Lead annual and month end financial accounting closes: Reconcile balance sheet and profit & loss accounts.
  • Balance, reconcile, manage and maintain the company's accounting systems interfaces to other programs.
  • Maintain proper system standing master data (e.g., product codes, pricing, etc.).
  • Ensure financial statements comply with generally accepted accounting principles, including adoption of new relevant accounting principles.
  • Support parent company annual group audit of financial statements.
  • Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation.
  • Drive cash flow performance through management, oversight of collections, disbursements and payroll.
  • Provide technical financial advice and knowledge to others within the financial discipline.
  • Evaluate the finance division structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as provide individuals with professional and personal development opportunities (where possible).
