About the position
The Director of Entitlements & Forward Planning at D.R. Horton is responsible for overseeing and driving entitlements, engineering, and forward planning for new acquisition opportunities. This role involves collaboration with divisional leadership to fulfill project needs, managing engineering and entitlement processes, and ensuring successful project execution from planning through to completion.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and drive entitlements, engineering, and forward planning for new acquisition opportunities.
- Perform detailed review and analysis of entitlement status of prospective acquisitions.
- Oversee the completion, submittal, and approval of construction plans.
- Assist in oversight of design and budgeting of cost items in communities.
- Coordinate with onsite construction management of community development projects.
- Maintain all previously approved land use and development entitlements.
- Maintain relationships within the private development community and governmental authorities.
- Physically walk sites to assess potential development situations.
- Solicit bids and select engineers and consultants.
- Attend public hearings and speak as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
- 10-15 years of applicable experience, including at least 5 years of supervisory experience.
- Experience in the residential real estate industry.
- Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office and email.
Nice-to-haves
- Registered Engineer or Planner preferred.
- Degree in Civil Engineering or related field is a plus.
- Professional Engineer certification is a plus.
- Residential development (field) experience of at least 5 years.
