About the position

The Director of Employee Engagement will lead Pine Street Inn's employee relations efforts to enhance the performance of all of PSI's human capital. Reporting directly to the Vice President for Human Resources, this position is crucial in upholding the mission of respect and care to the Inn's guests, tenants, trainees, and clients. The Director's fundamental responsibilities will focus on ensuring appropriate employee relations and HR support so that programs and departments meet annual organization and program/department goals. The role emphasizes performance management and adherence to policies, providing guidance to managers on policy interpretation, employee communications, regulatory compliance, and overseeing the agency's administration of leaves of absence. The fundamental goals of the position include advancing programs' and administrative departments' performance through strong employee relations support, supporting all PSI staff with a focus on front line staff, and advancing the adoption and use of PSI's Performance Management System aligned with organizational strategy and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead employee relations efforts to enhance human capital performance.
  • Ensure appropriate employee relations and HR support for programs and departments.
  • Provide guidance to managers on policy interpretation and employee communications.
  • Oversee the administration of leaves of absence.
  • Advance programs' performance through strong employee relations support.
  • Support front line staff with timely responses to workplace issues.
  • Promote the adoption of PSI's Performance Management System.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in human resources, business administration, or related field.
  • Human Resources professional certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM- (S)CP).
  • Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible human resources employee relations or generalist experience.
  • Superior interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills.
  • Successful experience supporting a human/social service, academic department, or business unit.
  • Significant experience in all facets of Employee Relations and Generalist work.
  • Demonstrated experience building strong partnerships with managers at all levels.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in human resources or business administration.
  • Significant academic experience in psychology, sociology, or human services.
  • Senior professional HR or leadership certification.
  • Experience working in an HR department supporting programs servicing homeless or individuals with complex disabilities.
  • Experience in change management or supporting organizational evolution.
