About the position

The Director of Development plays a crucial role in supporting Special Olympics Wisconsin's mission to foster inclusive communities for individuals with intellectual disabilities. This position is responsible for managing fundraising initiatives, securing partnerships, and enhancing donor engagement to achieve significant revenue goals. The Director will collaborate with various stakeholders, including board members, staff, and community partners, to promote the organization's vision and ensure sustainable financial support.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a dynamic donor portfolio of 75-125 donors and achieve an annual personal revenue goal of $350,000 - $500,000.
  • Create and implement strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with donors, ensuring personalized engagement.
  • Create meaningful proposals that align with the interests of individual donors.
  • Utilize and maintain the Raiser's Edge fundraising database and additional tracking systems.
  • Develop and execute an annual work plan and goals for fundraising initiatives.
  • Collaborate with development colleagues and other team members for a coordinated fundraising approach.
  • Work closely with other departments to gather programmatic information for donor communication.
  • Develop compelling proposals and grant applications with program staff.
  • Engage with Special Olympics Wisconsin programs and initiatives to build knowledge and relationships.
  • Represent Special Olympics Wisconsin in community engagement and volunteer opportunities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising or sales with corporate partnerships, event sponsorships, foundations, and individual donors.
  • Experience managing a dynamic donor portfolio of 75 - 125 donors.
  • Understanding of budgets, financials, and projections.
  • Experience with Raiser's Edge or another CRM database is strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional organization, planning, and workload prioritization skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in critical thinking and emotional intelligence to address complex challenges.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.
