The Senior Director of Donor Engagement is responsible for leading strategic initiatives to cultivate and enhance relationships with new and existing donors with a strong emphasis on frontline fundraising and targeted donor engagement. This includes implementation of stewardship programs, development and coordination of donor events, and creation of content for donor communications that ensure donor recognition and impact of investment in the mission. The Senior Director works collaboratively with the advancement team as well as colleagues across the agency to secure high-level support for Catholic Charities programs. This position supervises the Stewardship and Events Manager and Advancement Coordinator.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Senior Director of Major Gifts and Senior Vice President of Advancement to formulate a multi-year strategy aimed at expanding leadership and major giving, providing resources and guidance in its execution.
- Provide leadership for the Advisory Council program including the creation of new regional Advisory Councils. This includes meeting content coordination and preparation, nomination and solicitation for recruitment, and stewardship of all members.
- Manage and grow a portfolio of high-level donors through the regional Advisory Councils and devise strategic initiatives to engage and promote transformational giving across the regions.
- Responsible for overseeing $1.5 m annual fundraiser with key deliverables. Develop program as part of the cultivation and stewardship of existing donors and the engagement of new donors. This position is responsible for the event budget, the creation and distribution of all event materials, and management of sponsor solicitation and benefits.
- Work with Marketing and Communications to ensure deliverables of stewardship content materials including a yearly impact report, program case statements, and program updates for donor visits.
- In coordination with the Advancement team, identify, design and implement strategies for individualized donor stewardship, personalized engagement opportunities, impact updates, and funding proposal materials.
- Work with Senior Vice President of Advancement and members of the Board of Trustees, Advisory Councils, and committee members in identification, qualification, cultivation and solicitation of key donors or prospects.
- Expand Catholic Charities presence among philanthropic leaders in Boston through active networking and community outreach.
- Supervise the Stewardship Manager in planning and execution of donor engagement events and communications to express appreciation and showcase impact.
- Supervise the Advancement Coordinator in supporting all events, donor communications and materials, moves management, office management and Advancement administration.
- Perform work in an office environment and in the community with prolonged sitting, standing and/or walking.
- Attendance at internal and external events, training and meetings.
- Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Local travel as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with at least 7 years of experience in development and fundraising, focusing on individual donor engagement.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Proven success in donor prospect research and individual gift solicitation.
- Proficiency in diverse fundraising avenues including annual, major, planned giving, and events.
- Proven success in growing major and donor base and expanding community involvement in the Great Boston area.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a creative approach to addressing challenges.
- Exceptional relationship-building, presentation, and communication skills.
- Commitment to the mission of Catholic Charities and providing essential services to those in need.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Excel, and donor CRMs, preferably Raiser's Edge.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends, and willingness to travel as required.
- Valid Massachusetts driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for local travel.
