About the position

The Management Consulting Director in Guidehouse’s State and Local Government Practice leads delivery teams on high impact State & Local Government client engagements and driving business development activities. This role involves establishing approaches to gather information from clients regarding client structure, process, technology and culture, facilitating meetings with client stakeholders to gather information, and identifying and implementing overall program improvements for clients. The Director will effectively leverage project resources to accomplish tasks while providing regular feedback and coaching. Additionally, this position requires driving business development activities including RFP responses and proposal development, and the ability to lead account planning and target new business opportunities that support relevant practice development goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery teams on high impact State & Local Government client engagements.
  • Drive business development activities including RFP responses and proposal development.
  • Establish approaches to gather information from clients regarding client structure, process, technology and culture.
  • Facilitate meetings with client stakeholders to gather information.
  • Identify and implement overall program improvements for clients.
  • Effectively leverage project resources to accomplish tasks while providing regular feedback and coaching.
  • Lead account planning and target new business opportunities.

Requirements

  • Critical thinking to solve problems and develop innovative solutions to client’s management and operational challenges.
  • 10+ years minimum of experience in management consulting with at least 5 years' experience in State & Local Government and/or the Public Sector.
  • Familiarity with Pennsylvania Government practices.
  • Strong professional network and/or experience in state and local government in Harrisburg, PA.
  • Must currently reside within a reasonable number (50-60) of miles of Harrisburg, PA.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience managing projects and junior & mid-level staff.
  • Ability to travel to clients locations, GH Office locations and as needed to support business development activities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree - MPP, MPA (including MBA or equivalent).
  • Experience managing challenging projects and serving clients.
  • Experience facilitating meetings and public speaking with large groups.
  • Management consulting skills such as project management, financial modeling, operational modeling, and stakeholder management.
