This role is for a Director, Investment Grade Credit Trading within Global Banking and Markets (GBM). GBM is a leading Capital Markets and Investment Banking platform with a competitive presence across the Americas, operating globally for over 100 years. Scotiabank’s strong US presence provides clients an important bridge to this key global market for trade and investment flows across the Americas and the world. GBM provides a full range of investment banking, credit and risk management products and services relevant to the financing and strategic development needs of our clients. This position contributes to the success of the US Investment Grade Cash Trading Desk, which is part of Global Fixed Income, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. It also ensures all activities conducted follow governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Holds relevant bachelor’s degree (Commerce, Finance, Economics, Mathematics or related discipline)
  • SIE, Series 7 and Series 63 licenses.
  • Associated Person of swap dealer. NFA Swap Proficiency Requirement within 30 days
  • Strong financial and computer literacy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask, excellent problem resolution and time management skills

Responsibilities

  • Champions a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Support the Debt Capital Markets franchise through trading in the secondary bond market.
  • Drive revenue and trading volumes through interactions with our clients and prudent risk taking.
  • Fosters new and existing client relationships in addition to cross-selling existing relationships across other areas and product groups.
  • Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Manage trading inventories and generate trading revenues in compliance with limits and the bank’s risk profile.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
