About the position

Mindbody is looking for a highly motivated, detail-oriented Director, Payroll with excellent business acumen. You will lead the company’s global payroll process and reporting in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. You will partner closely with leadership to drive financial performance, optimize resource allocation, and support strategic initiatives. You will play a key role in shaping the payroll strategy of the company, ensuring alignment with business goals, and driving data-driven decision-making at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the global payroll function, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing across multiple countries
  • Develop and implement international payroll strategies that align with company goals and global expansion plans
  • Ensure compliance with local, federal, and international payroll regulations, tax laws, and statutory reporting requirements
  • Drive payroll process optimization and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce manual effort
  • Collaborate with Finance, HR, Legal, and external providers to streamline payroll operations and address country-specific payroll complexities
  • Oversee payroll audits, reconciliations, and reporting, ensuring accuracy in financial statements and compliance with SOX and other relevant regulations
  • Provide strategic leadership and mentorship to the payroll team, fostering professional development and operational excellence
  • Partner with Compensation & Benefits teams to ensure seamless execution of salary structures, equity programs, and incentive plans
  • Stay current on industry trends, tax law changes, and emerging payroll technologies to continuously improve global payroll operations

Requirements

  • 10+ years of payroll leadership experience, with a strong focus on US and international payroll operations
  • Expertise in global payroll compliance, tax regulations, and statutory reporting across multiple countries
  • Proven experience leading payroll process improvements, system implementations, and automation initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of payroll-related accounting, general ledger reconciliation, and financial reporting
  • Familiarity with Dayforce, or other major payroll systems
  • Exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to collaborate effectively across functions and global teams
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or a related field; CPP or other payroll certifications preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a flexible, team-oriented attitude; willingness to quickly pivot to new projects as required by business needs
