About the position

The Director of Food & Nutrition is responsible for leading and managing the Food and Nutrition Services Department, ensuring a clean and safe environment while providing appropriate medical nutrition therapy. This role involves overseeing all functions of the department, including food preparation, personnel management, and compliance with healthcare regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction for the Food and Nutrition Services Department.
• Ensure a clean and safe environment for food preparation and service.
• Oversee the implementation of medical nutrition therapy.
• Manage food service operations in compliance with Joint Commission and Department of Health requirements.
• Train and evaluate staff performance against established criteria.
• Develop and implement processes that enhance service excellence and customer satisfaction.
• Manage budgeting, purchasing, and infection control within the department.

Requirements

• Registered dietitian or certified dietary manager (CDM) or certified food protection professional (CFPP).
• Completion of a dietetic technician or assistant training program approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
• ServSafe Certification or equivalent required within 3 months of employment.
• Ten years of food service management experience in a hospital setting preferred.
• Five years of Director level experience strongly desired.
• Bachelor's degree in Restaurant/Hospitality Management, Business, Dietetics/Nutrition, or a related field preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in improving customer/patient satisfaction.
• Familiarity with healthcare food service requirements.
