About the position

The Director of Finance - Foundation at PenFed is responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the PenFed Foundation, including controllership, tax compliance, budgeting, and financial reporting. This role involves managing the annual budget development, ensuring accurate monthly accounting close, coordinating annual audits, and overseeing venture capital fund accounting. The Director will collaborate closely with senior leadership to provide financial expertise and ensure operational efficiency while implementing financial initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting to support operational and strategic decisions.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure alignment of strategic plans with financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting outcomes.
  • Direct day-to-day financial operations and the completion of major financial deliverables, including budget preparation and financial reporting.
  • Monitor financial performance and prepare regular financial reports for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies, GAAP, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain financial reports and forecasts for internal and external stakeholders to analyze trends and identify risks and opportunities.
  • Support the preparation of grants and ensure their compliance with institution, funding source, and federal guidelines and regulations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10+ years' experience in corporate accounting function.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to own and see projects to completion.
  • Strong ability to manage and develop junior team members.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Highly motivated; Self-starter.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines and balance multiple priorities.
  • An innovative and analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
