The Director Field Medical Trainer - Thrombosis will ensure that Franchise Medical Science Liaison’s (MSL’s) provide scientific information to thought leaders that leads to optimal solutions for their patients and results in long-term relationships built on integrity and trust. This will be a full-time residence-based position dedicated to ensuring that the Franchise MSL’s have current and comprehensive disease state, product knowledge and skills training necessary to confidently and compliantly communicate and collaborate with their Thought Leaders and Bayer colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver a TA focused onboarding and training program designed to ensure that new MSLs and other Field Medical Personnel can competently, confidently and compliantly perform their role and achieve certification in a timely manner aligned with Global and Local SOPs.
  • Develop in collaboration with Franchise MSL Leadership, L&D team, Executive Director Field Medical Excellence, and other relevant stakeholders training, coaching, and mentoring programs designed to help members of the Franchise MSL team to achieve their maximum potential as aligned with local and global SOPs.
  • Ensure that Franchise MSLs have up-to-date knowledge of relevant disease state, clinical and scientific information, product data, and healthcare trends in that Franchise and can confidently and compliantly apply the information to thought leader and HCP interactions.
  • Conduct a TA focused annual, cross-functional needs assessment and collaborates with management to determine the learning and development needs of the different medical roles within Franchise.
  • Pull through PFCI model and concepts with specific TA focused data or activities.
  • Support any relevant Global TA PFCI training or activities as applicable.
  • Partnership with MSL Leadership and Global stakeholders to support pull through of STEM or other assessment training or development plans for Franchise MSL team.
  • In partnership with L&D team, ensure that the Franchise MSL team is fully compliant in the documentation and timing of all training programs and certifications.
  • Coordinate Franchise Field Medical Journal Club educational activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure that Franchise specific MSL training is aligned with current MA plans and strategies.
  • Align training and field coaching to MSL competencies required for advancement.
  • Collaborate with the Franchise MSL leadership team, L&D team, and Field Medical Excellence to develop measures of training success.
  • Support Global and US medical and training strategy pull through as appropriate.
  • Through regular engagement and coaching of MSLs, identify scientific data or soft skill training and development needs.
  • Engagement with HCPs and assessment of MSL data delivery and soft skills through attendance at MSL presentations, advisory boards, Medical Education programs, MSL / TL meetings, etc.
  • Ensure that the Franchise MSL Team operates based on current best practices and benchmarking.
  • Stay abreast of learning and development based practices and current trends in Therapeutic Area.
  • Lead activities focused on sharing best practices among MSL teams and implement innovative training or development solutions as applicable.
  • Coordinate IT support training on all medical programs and websites utilized by MSLs.
  • Create a culture of coaching and accountability by serving as the team Cultural Champion.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in science-related field (PharmD, PhD, MD, MSN) with experience within a pharmaceutical or medical device company in medical affairs, clinical development, marketing, or sales required.
  • MSL and/or field medical management experience.
  • Franchise/Therapeutic Area experience required.
  • Demonstrates excellent project management ability.
  • Highly organized with thorough attention to detail ensuring timely follow through and closure.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and build productive work relationships both internally and externally required.
  • Demonstrates excellent problem resolution skills, presentation skills, oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and team building skills are required.
  • Strong leadership ability.
  • Shows Independent working ability, self-starter with a high degree of initiative.
  • Ability to travel, locally and regionally combined, up to 20 - 30%.
  • Ability to manage T&E budget as a field-based medical team member.
  • Computer proficiency required including programs and software such as Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher, and OneNote.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Demonstrates Strong teaching skills; proven track record of effective oral and written presentations.
  • Expertise in critically evaluating the appropriate scientific literature.
  • Demonstrates organizational and time management skills.
  • Conveys deep knowledge of FDA compliance and regulatory requirements.

  • Employees can expect to be paid a salary of between $182,632 to $273,948.
