About the position

If working in a community setting with boys and girls ages 6-13 years old with intellectual developmental disorders and/or Autism Spectrum Disorders sounds like a rewarding career then look no further! As a Direct Care Professional at Devereux, you will work with other dedicated professionals who share your passion for helping individuals in need. You will have the privilege of working closely with some of the most vulnerable people in our community to build on their strengths and truly make a contribution to improving their lives. This position is responsible for the safety and security of all youth as assigned and provides and ensures therapeutic interventions in a compassionate and safe environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized care to young people with emphasis on teaching daily living and coping skills.
  • Ensure the safety and security of all youth as assigned.
  • Implement therapeutic interventions in a compassionate and safe environment.
  • Work collaboratively with an interactive team that includes nursing, education, therapists, and psychiatrists.
  • Influence the treatment plans for at-risk youth.
  • Teach valuable life skills to children and adolescents.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Active driver's license is required.
  • High School diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, or Special Education preferred.
  • Previous experience preferred (not required) working with individuals under 21 with psychological, emotional and behavioral disorders.
  • Must be able to attend a 2 week paid orientation.
  • Ability to meet 100% mastery of Safe and Positive Approaches.
