About the position

The Direct Support Specialist I at Am Boundless, Inc. is responsible for providing in-home respite support to families with children who have developmental disabilities. This role involves working directly with families in their homes, schools, and communities to assess their needs and implement trauma-informed support strategies. The specialist will collaborate with families and other caregivers to ensure effective support and communication, while also collecting data and training families on proper support techniques.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design of trauma-informed support strategies.
• Work side-by-side with families to ensure proper implementation of trauma-informed support strategies.
• Train families and other support systems/caregivers on the implementation of trauma-informed support strategies.
• Collect data related to support strategies and family needs.
• Provide Strategic Interval Respite to families.
• Maintain frequent and consistent communication with team members to ensure effective support execution.
• Perform other duties as requested.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience working with people with developmental disabilities with complex behavior needs required.
• Experience working with children required.
• Valid Ohio Driver's License and reliable transportation required.
• Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen.
• Computer proficiency with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field or 2 years of undergraduate studies preferred.
• Experience working in a residential setting preferred.
• 3 years of experience providing behavioral health support to individuals with mental health disorders preferred.
