About the position

The Direct Support Professional role at L'Arche Clinton involves providing support and companionship to individuals with intellectual disabilities. Responsibilities

• Support adults with Intellectual Disabilities and foster mutual and respectful relationships with them
• Provide support in interpersonal communication, problem solving, money management, personal hygiene, and independently set goals
• Provide transportation as needed
• Support Core Members in medical visits & recreational activities
• Promote Independence
• Maintain a clean, safe, and home-like environment
• Promote nutritious meal plans and physical activities that facilitate personal health and well being
• Have knowledge of a Core Members medications and administer medications following the six rights and MAR
• Complete documentation in a timely manner
• Participate in mandatory meetings, trainings, and formations

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Have the physical ability to lift over 50 LBS and may require prolonged walking/standing
• Have the ability to make sound judgement when given guidance and priorities
• Have the ability to work as a team member
• Have the ability to receive instruction and implement policies and procedures as trained
• Have the ability to recognize physical changes of a Core Member served, communicate with others, and respond accordingly
• Current valid driver's license and valid insurance
• High School Diploma preferred
• Strong computer and writing skills needed

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in caregiving (1 year preferred)
• CNA certification (preferred)
