About the position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) role at The Fedcap Group involves assisting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their community residential home. The DSP is responsible for supporting residents with daily tasks, ensuring their safety, and promoting their independence through various activities. This position requires a commitment to providing high-quality services and may involve medication administration and behavioral management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision to individuals in accordance with the treatment plan.
  • Demonstrate competencies in Task Analysis, Life Plan/Staff Action Plan Goal Implementation, Job Coaching/Teaching, Report Writing, and Behavioral Interventions.
  • Facilitate individuals' independence in community-centered activities and job tasks.
  • Encourage the development of appropriate social skills and relationships.
  • Develop and coordinate schedules for integrated opportunities to increase independence and community access.
  • Assist in the development and revision of training plans and behavior plans.
  • Observe behavior and skill levels to provide objective information and recommendations.
  • Assure quality control standards in accordance with employer expectations.
  • Provide positive role modeling for individuals.
  • Maintain documentation and prepare reports as required.
  • Transport individuals to and from program activities and appointments.
  • Provide training in self-care skills, money management, cooking, and social interactions.
  • Assist individuals with personal care needs when necessary.
  • Communicate pertinent information with the team to maximize service benefits.
  • Demonstrate appropriate judgment and understanding of client safety.
  • Perform routine household tasks including meal preparation and housekeeping.
  • Participate in training opportunities to expand knowledge of treatment methods.

Requirements

  • High School education or GED required.
  • Two years of work experience preferred.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality services to individuals with disabilities.
  • Able to be medication certified (AMAP).
  • Able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Valid driver's license for transportation of program participants.
