The Direct Support Professional Success Coach at The Arc Chemung-Schuyler is a full-time role focused on empowering individuals with unique needs by providing guidance and support to new employees in their first six months. This position emphasizes building meaningful relationships, fostering independence, and enhancing the quality of life for clients. The role involves training staff in person-centered skills and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, all while promoting a compassionate work culture.

Responsibilities

• Guide new employees through their first six months in the residential program.
• Provide individualized, person-centered skills training and support.
• Ensure staff effectively assist individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Serve as a positive role model for teamwork and compassion.
• Promote proficiency in OPWDD Core Competencies and the Code of Ethics.
• Review orientation materials and ensure staff comprehension.
• Interact regularly with new staff, supervisors, and administration.
• Observe, coach, and provide constructive feedback to staff.

Requirements

• Effective communication skills.
• Strong leadership abilities.
• Organizational skills.
• Familiarity with training and documentation software and tools.
• Understanding of NYS Justice Center and OPWDD regulations.
• Ability to provide skills instruction in areas such as cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, and money management.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in social services or human services field.
• Previous training or coaching experience.
