About the position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) role involves providing supportive in-home services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The DSP is responsible for assisting clients with daily living activities, ensuring their safety, and participating in their individualized training programs. This position requires a compassionate individual who can work effectively in both routine and crisis situations, documenting client progress and behaviors accurately.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with daily living activities (ADLs) such as feeding and personal care.
• Observe and report on clients' conditions and behaviors.
• Interact therapeutically with individuals and participate in their training programs.
• Document clients' behaviors and responses to activities throughout the day.
• Drive clients in personal vehicles as needed.
• Ensure the environment is free of safety hazards and report any issues to the supervisor.
• Provide emergency care and administer CPR when necessary.
• Participate in behavior intervention techniques to protect clients from harm.
• Attend work regularly and predictably according to agency policies.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least 6 months or 100 hours of experience caring for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
• Completion of 90 hours of class or documented education related to the field.
• Current driver's license and auto insurance.
• Current TB test and proof of COVID vaccination.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with behavior modification techniques.
• Ability to learn and apply patient care techniques and treatment programs.
