About the position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a crucial role in enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities by providing direct support in a center-based setting. This position focuses on assisting clients with personal care, facilitating life enrichment activities, and promoting personal growth through person-centered practices. The DSP is integral to ensuring compliance with legal standards and fostering a supportive environment that encourages independence and community integration.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support for people with disabilities.
• Assist with life enrichment activities to advance the work and social skills of persons served.
• Model appropriate behavior and interactions.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable legal requirements and accreditation standards.
• Input information into data management systems.
• Design innovative community integration activities and support persons served on these community outings.
• Provide daily transportation of persons supported in Rise's vans and buses.
• Assist with lifting and transferring adults to/from wheelchairs and personal care.
• Establish and achieve personal goals for the individuals supported.

Requirements

• Current, valid driver's license.
• A driving record that demonstrates safe, legal driving habits.
• Compliance with DHS Rule 11 and Rise MVR background checks required.
• Reliable work attendance.
• Comfortable working with Microsoft Office software and database management systems.

• Previous experience working in a social services organization.
• Experience practicing person-centered techniques with people with disabilities.
• Detail-oriented, results-driven, efficient, and communicative.
• Ability to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize appropriately.
