About The Position

Dungarvin is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver to join their team in Madison, WI. This role involves assisting individuals with disabilities in a residential group home setting, helping them achieve various outcomes, providing personal care, and facilitating community integration. The DSP will act as a mentor, supporting individuals with daily activities such as meals, cleaning, housekeeping, laundry, and facilitating activities. The position also involves hands-on mentoring to promote independence, providing positive direction towards personal goals, and administering medication while ensuring well-being. The company offers paid training and hands-on experience for those without prior experience. A specialized Behavioral DSP role is also available for candidates with experience in managing intense high behaviors, supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health, behavioral, and/or significant medical challenges. This role requires patience, good decision-making, and crisis management skills.

Requirements

  • Valid Drivers License (due to transporting persons served)
  • Excitement for working with adults with disabilities
  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Good communication skills (reading, writing, and communication skills to document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with both internal and external team members)
  • Successful background clearance
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Comfortable driving company vehicles to transport persons served as required
  • Prior experience with intense high behaviors, both verbal and physical (for Behavioral DSP role)
  • Patient, good decision making and crisis management skills (for Behavioral DSP role)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with adults with mental health issues, disabilities or related experience
  • Prior IDD, mental health, psychiatric, and/or security experience (for Behavioral DSP role)
  • Own personal vehicle and auto-liability insurance (may be required for some positions/locations)

Responsibilities

  • Assist in a residential group home by helping people with disabilities achieve a variety of outcomes.
  • Assist with personal cares and provide normalization/community integration.
  • Provide support and mentorship with daily activities to those we support in a manner that ensures their health and safety.
  • Help with meals, cleaning, housekeeping, laundry duties and facilitating fun activities.
  • Provide hands-on mentoring to those we serve to help them become more independent.
  • Provide positive direction to the individuals to encourage them to achieve their personal goals.
  • Provide medication administration and ensure person's medical well being.
  • Provide supports to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, people who are faced with mental health, behavioral, and/or significant medical challenges (for Behavioral DSP role).
