About the position

The Direct Care Lead - Behavioral Health position at Telecare involves providing rehabilitative support services to adults with developmental disabilities who exhibit challenging behaviors. This role is crucial in ensuring that individuals receive the necessary care and support in a residential setting, promoting their health and well-being. The Direct Care Lead will supervise direct care staff, participate in treatment planning, and maintain compliance with legal and regulatory standards while fostering a supportive and safe environment for clients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide rehabilitative support services for adults with developmental disabilities with challenging behavior service needs.
  • Participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team for evaluation, assessment, treatment planning, and discharge planning.
  • Assign shift tasks to direct care staff, including housecleaning, care, cooking, and activities.
  • Provide training to direct care staff on the needs of the persons served and their job duties.
  • Assign staff to work with persons served based on individual needs.
  • Maintain legal and regulatory compliance and complete necessary reporting requirements.
  • Assist persons served in taking self-administered, prescribed medications.
  • Ensure direct care staff understand medication indications and side effects.
  • Provide direct client care in 1:1 and group settings utilizing applied behavioral analysis (ABA) principles.
  • Collect, record, and summarize data on observable client behavior.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapeutic environment.
  • Collaborate with the individual support team and partnering agencies.
  • Maintain daily logs and data reports.
  • Maintain knowledge of all active support plans for persons served.
  • Provide physical care, training, supervision, and recreation as prescribed in the Individual Program Plan (IPP).
  • Act as a role model for persons served by dressing and behaving appropriately.
  • Prepare meals and snacks as indicated on weekly menus, involving persons served in meal preparation tasks.
  • Drive persons served to medical and dental appointments and outside activities as assigned.
  • Maintain integrity and confidentiality of HIPAA compliance and regulations regarding client information.

Requirements

  • High School Graduation or G.E.D.
  • One (1) year experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities with challenging behavior service needs.
  • Board certified as a Registered Behavior Technician within 60 days of initial employment or be a Qualified Behavior Modification Professional.
  • Completion of both segments of Direct Support Professional (DSP) competency-based training course within one year of employment.
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Must be CPR, First Aid, and CPI certified on date of employment or prior to providing direct client care.
  • Valid driver license, motor vehicle clearance, and proof of auto insurance required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft programs and electronic data collection.
