About the position

The Director of Collections at CMA CGM will manage all collection efforts for both first and third-party debts, ensuring that the company collects as much debt as possible while minimizing exposure. This role involves managing relationships with customers, the Collections Department (both locally and remotely), and internal stakeholders for an assigned customer portfolio. The objective is to improve customer experience and maximize working capital. The Director will identify obstacles that impede timely collections, proactively seek solutions, and influence process changes to enhance results.

Responsibilities

  • Partner in the collection process with the Collections Department, Sales, and customers to meet collection targets.
  • Monitor outstanding debt to drive collection goals and minimize past due invoices.
  • Foster positive relationships with customers through timely handling of escalations and resolving invoice issues.
  • Proactively drive improvements in customer invoicing accuracy through dispute root cause analysis.
  • Enforce Credit Policy and organize Credit Management meetings with Divisional VP and Local Sales team.
  • Perform miscellaneous related duties or projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 3-5 years of industry experience in collections processes aimed at reducing Days Sales Outstanding (DSO).
  • Minimum of 4 years of managerial experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of collections processes and the ocean container shipping industry.
  • Exceptional skills in MS Excel, including pivot tables, v-lookups, and graphing functions.
  • Ability to develop and execute a collection strategy to reduce delinquency and improve DSO.
  • Experience managing offshored and remote teams.
  • Ability to assess collection performance and prepare management-level reporting.
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
