About the position
KOMO News in Seattle has an immediate opening for a full-time Digital Content Producer. This position is an integral part of a fast-paced newsroom environment and is responsible for the timely publishing of breaking news and daily stories on all KOMO News digital and social media platforms. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is passionate about news and can prioritize and juggle multiple tasks in a digital-first newsroom. The Digital Content Producer will edit and publish reporter stories, write and produce daily news and social content, caption photos for galleries, publish videos and live streams, and generate interactive content for all digital platforms, including KOMONews.com, mobile app, social media and YouTube. This role also involves having strong knowledge of AP-style writing, SEO best practices, solid news judgment, and the ability to react to breaking news quickly and accurately while maintaining communication with other members of the digital team, news managers and producers, the assignment desk, reporters, and photographers as stories develop. The Digital Content Producer may also need to help the assignment desk gather information from social media during breaking news and weather events, as well as respond to viewer messages and emails. This opening is for an evening and weekend Digital Content Producer.
Responsibilities

- Must be a self-starter with strong AP-style writing and editing abilities

Nice-to-haves
- Previous writing and digital content producing experience in a TV newsroom
- Broad knowledge of and experience with all social media platforms
- Experience with video editing for digital platforms, including vertical videos for social media
- College degree in journalism is preferred
