About The Position

This is a part-time position working 30 hours each week, with hours from 8:30 am to 3 pm, Monday through Friday. Weekends and holidays are off. The role involves general cleaning of kitchen, cafeteria, and canteen areas, including floor drains, floors, walls, coolers, freezers, restrooms, and offices, as well as assisting with unloading food trucks. A key aspect of the job is understanding and correctly using cleaning chemicals, including proper dilution rates and safety precautions, and never mixing chemicals. The position also requires preventing accidents by using wet floor signs, drying wet floors, properly storing furnishings, and being mindful of electrical cords and equipment. Responsibilities include the collection and disposal of trash, ensuring hazardous materials are handled safely to reduce hazards, spread of infections, and injuries. Continuous improvement is expected, including completing daily/weekly/monthly cleaning tasks, attending in-services and training sessions, and developing continuous quality improvement habits. Other duties may be assigned to fulfill the mission of CNVH, meet the needs of members, guests, and staff, and assist other departments as staffing allows. Encouraging and assisting others in their professional development is also part of the role.

Requirements

  • No specific education, training, or experience is required for entry to this class
  • Knowledge of housekeeping duties
  • Basic cleaning and infection control
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Safely mix cleaning solutions to proper proportions using concentrated cleaning agents for a variety of surfaces
  • Work independently or as a team
  • Move around to work safely, lift and move objects
  • Assist in unloading trucks
  • Use common cleaning tools
  • Maintain care and use of supplies, equipment, etc.
  • Read label directions, precautions and hazards

Responsibilities

  • Attend in-services and training sessions as assigned

  • Assisting other departments in the accomplishment of their assignments as staffing allows
  • Encourage and assist others in their professional development
