About the position

The Dietary Assistant at NeighborHealth plays a crucial role in providing nutritional assistance under the supervision of a Registered Dietitian. This position involves meal preparation, serving, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards, contributing to the overall well-being of participants in the PACE Center.

Responsibilities

• Prepares meal plates and snacks for distribution to participants in the PACE Center.
• Checks and records temperature of food before serving.
• Checks and records refrigerator and freezer temperatures at beginning and end of shift.
• Maintains cleanliness and order in kitchen and food supply areas.
• Ensures cleanliness of refrigerators and freezer.
• Completes weekly cleaning log.
• Maintains inventory of food and food-related supplies, including emergency food supplies.
• Works with dietitian to order food.
• Orders supplies and stock items as approved.
• Monitors expiration dates, rotation, and storage of food to ensure all food products are labeled and dated as per policy guidelines.

Requirements

• Certified Nurse Aide or Health Aide Certification REQUIRED
• Valid CPR BLS card
• A minimum of one year experience working with a frail or elderly population.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills; bilingual preferred.
• Flexibility, initiative, creativity and organizational skills.
• Ability to learn and efficiently utilize job-related software and computer systems.
