About the position
The Dietary Aide plays a crucial role in ensuring that residents receive proper meals that meet their dietary needs. This position involves assisting in meal preparation, delivery, and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas. The Dietary Aide is essential in providing quality care and support to residents in a rehabilitation and healing environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in assembling and checking diet trays prior to distribution to ensure all residents receive the proper meals to meet dietary needs.
- Label and date food properly.
- Deliver food carts to designated areas and collect food trucks when meals are finished to return to the dish room.
- Work in the dish room, washing all dishes and utensils utilizing the dish machine.
- Prepare and deliver snacks to nursing units.
- Ensure the kitchen stays clean at all times, including sweeping and mopping floors as instructed.
- Carry out garbage.
Requirements
- Experience in long-term care (LTC) preferred but not required.
- Must be able to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, and visitors.
- Able to follow and understand procedures.
- Positive attitude, patience, and team mentality.
