About the position

Savage is hiring Diesel Mechanics for Night Shift at our North Salt Lake operation! This position offers a competitive hourly wage of $26 to $34/hour depending on experience, with built-in overtime (50 hours/week) and a quarterly tool allowance. The role includes performing heavy and minor repairs on semi tractors and pneumatic and oil tanker trailers, maintaining shop cleanliness, and utilizing computer-based diagnostic systems to determine necessary repairs. Additionally, the position involves implementing a preventative maintenance program for a fleet of tractors and trailers, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and assisting with writing and revising maintenance procedures as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform heavy and minor repairs on all semi tractors and pneumatic and oil tanker trailers
  • Maintain shop cleanliness and parts inventory
  • Utilize computer based diagnostic systems to determine necessary repairs
  • Occasional tire work
  • Implement a thorough preventative maintenance program for a fleet of tractors and trailers
  • Accurately record work performed in our Manager Plus computer program
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Follow proper safety rules, maintenance and operating procedures
  • Assist with writing and revising maintenance procedures as needed

Requirements

  • 1 to 2 years of Diesel Mechanic Experience
  • Experience with a variety of trucks
  • Experience with crude and pneumatic trailers
  • Confidence in repairing suspensions, rear ends, transmissions, air brake systems, and minor engine work
  • Expert in identifying and diagnosing needed repairs by computer based systems
  • Class A CDL a plus, but not required
  • Ability to read, write and understand English
  • Knowledge and experience using computerized maintenance programs
  • Effective interfacing with internal leadership and external vendors
  • Self-starter capable of working independently
  • Ability to lift 100 pounds

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with crude and pneumatic trailers
  • Class A CDL
