About the position

The Mobile Diesel Technician at Torque by Ryder is responsible for maintaining and repairing a fleet of heavy-duty trucks. This permanent, full-time position involves performing routine preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel and automotive gas engines. The technician will work independently and interact with customers to ensure high-quality service and satisfaction. The role includes a typical schedule of four 10-hour days, with all necessary tools and equipment provided by the company.

Responsibilities

• Interact with customers to facilitate preventative maintenance and repair issue resolution.
• Coordinate work schedules as required by customers.
• Road test vehicles to identify repair issues and ensure quality of work.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance including oil changes, brake and tire work.
• Conduct diagnostics and repairs on A/C, electrical systems, and major engine repairs.
• Maintain accurate repair orders and documentation as per company systems.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations during maintenance work.
• Act as a mentor for junior technicians.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or Technical Certification preferred.
• Basic tools required for the job.
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines.
• Three (3) years or more relevant work experience preferred.
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred.
• Two (2) years or more experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy-duty and medium-duty equipment.
• Ability to understand and adhere to company policies.

Nice-to-haves

• Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications preferred.
• Experience with advanced skilled level repairs including diesel after treatment or automotive fuel injection repairs.
