About the position
As a Dialysis Patient Care Technician (PCT) at US Renal Care, you will play a crucial role in providing care and treatment to patients with renal failure. Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Charge Nurse, you will be responsible for ensuring high-quality dialysis treatment and patient safety.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care during dialysis treatment.
- Gather patient statistics before and after treatment.
- Initiate, monitor, and terminate dialysis treatment.
- Collect patient blood samples as per physician orders.
- Prepare and clean dialysis machines, ensuring they are disinfected after use.
- Conduct machine safety checks and log results for quality control.
- Adhere to safety measures and use personal protective equipment as required.
- Participate in staff meetings and continuing education offerings.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Desire to work in healthcare and care for patients.
- Previous healthcare experience in dialysis, phlebotomy, or as a CNA is preferred.
- Comfortable mixing acids and bicarbonate according to protocol.
- Ability to distinguish all primary colors.
- Successful completion of USRC training program approved by the Medical Director within 8 weeks of hire.
- CPR certification required within 90 days of hire or as required by the state.
- Patient Care Technician certification must be obtained within 18 months of hire.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in phlebotomy is a plus.
- Previous experience as a CNA is a plus.
