The Sonography Clinical Coordinator is responsible for supervision of the clinical education portion of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. They are responsible for the placement and supervision of students at the clinical site, which includes regular visits to clinical sites where students are being trained. Some of the key responsibilities of the Clinical Coordinator include but are not limited to the following: coordinating clinical education with didactic education, evaluating and ensuring the effectiveness of clinical experiences for the students, providing clinical instruction and documenting the evaluation and progression of clinical performance leading to clinical competence, supporting the program director to assure effective program operations, participating in the accreditation and assessment processes, and maintaining current knowledge of the professional discipline and educational methodologies through continuing professional development. Teaching assignment, depending on experience and qualifications, would include instruction in related sonographic lectures and laboratories at the associate level. The clinical coordinator will assist in overseeing outcomes assessment and maintaining accreditation with JRC-DMS. Additional duties will include assisting in student recruitment, student orientation, curriculum/course development, liaison to the external curriculum advisory committee and clinical sites, and various college/department services.
