Requirements
- Graduate from a nursing program Required or Bachelor’s Degree in applicable field Required
- RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure Required or REG DIET - Dietitian – Registered Required or CDE - Certified Diabetes Educator Certification Required or Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) Required
Nice To Haves
- 2 years of experience in a clinical setting
- Experience in Diabetes Education
Responsibilities
- Functions in the specialty role of Diabetes Educator by providing direct patient care in the acute care and ambulatory settings based on consultative requests from the medical staff.
- Works closely with the entire medical staff and nursing staff to prepare patients for discharge in a safe, efficient manner.
- Provides tools and skills for homecare to patients and families.
- Makes recommendations to hospital staff for changes in diabetes management.
- Serves as an educational and informational resource to all hospital staff and the community.
