Requirements

  • Graduate from a nursing program Required or Bachelor’s Degree in applicable field Required
  • RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure Required or REG DIET - Dietitian – Registered Required or CDE - Certified Diabetes Educator Certification Required or Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) Required

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of experience in a clinical setting
  • Experience in Diabetes Education

Responsibilities

  • Functions in the specialty role of Diabetes Educator by providing direct patient care in the acute care and ambulatory settings based on consultative requests from the medical staff.
  • Works closely with the entire medical staff and nursing staff to prepare patients for discharge in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Provides tools and skills for homecare to patients and families.
  • Makes recommendations to hospital staff for changes in diabetes management.
  • Serves as an educational and informational resource to all hospital staff and the community.
