About The Position

Fair Haven Community Health Care’s (FHCHC) Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics (DBP) program is a multidisciplinary, dedicated, and dynamic team that evaluates, diagnoses, and coordinates care for children with developmental and behavioral disorders. The DBP Clinical Coordinator serves as the administrative point-person for this program, navigates and schedules patients for visits, and serves as Medical Assistant during the DBP clinic hours. The role is responsible for the overall flow of patients through the DBP program.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required
  • A minimum of six months of experience in a medical facility is required.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • The selected candidate will be a medical assistant from an accredited program (diploma) or a certified medical assistant with a minimum of three years of experience.
  • The selected candidate must possess administrative, clerical, and computing skills including Microsoft Office, customer service, and excellent organizational communication skills.

  • Oral and written proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receive referrals to the DBP program and schedule patients for initial consultations under the guidance of the Director of Behavioral Health Operations.
  • Coordinates intake processes for patients entering DBP care.
  • Works with DBP clinical staff in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Schedules follow-up appointments for patients in the DBP program.
  • Manages phone calls, refill requests, and other patient-originating messages to the DBP clinic team.
  • During DBP clinical hours, greets patients and families while creating a welcoming environment.
  • Listens to and determines patients’ needs in an efficient and friendly manner.
  • As needed, performs age-appropriate vital signs and point-of-care testing
  • Prepares letters, flyers, and memos that are patient-facing.
  • Ensures compliance with current healthcare regulations, medical laws, and ethical standards.
  • Maintains competency, as overseen by the Director of Nursing, in medical assistant tasks, such as the acquisition of vital signs, point of care testing.
  • Performs other necessary duties as required by FHCHC to achieve the goal of providing excellent primary health care.
