About the position

The Desktop Support Specialist role at Oneida Technical Solutions involves providing technical support and expertise in managing Microsoft Windows Active Directory and performing migrations from older versions to the latest. The position requires a strong background in IT, particularly in environments related to the U.S. Department of Defense and other regulated sectors. The successful candidate will collaborate with various teams to develop and implement migration strategies while ensuring compliance with security standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Microsoft Active Directory, including the implementation of Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and STIG settings.
  • Support the migration of Windows Active Directory from 2003/2008 to 2012 or the most recent version.
  • Collaborate with Server Operations and application teams to develop and test migration strategies.
  • Maintain hardened Windows operating systems to STIG compliance.
  • Manage Windows systems, including Windows Server 2003, 2008, and 2012.
  • Utilize VB/Powershell for automation of common functions.
  • Work with large-scale datacenter design and operations.
  • Support and deploy Microsoft Windows Server 2016 and its STIG compliance.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years of experience in desktop engineering or related fields.
  • Must possess a SECRET security clearance.
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) certification required.
  • Experience with Windows migrations and Active Directory upgrades.
  • Experience managing Microsoft Active Directory architecture and replication in a multi-domain environment.
  • Experience with virtual infrastructure, specifically VMWare.
  • Current CompTIA Security+ Certification required.

Nice-to-haves

  • ITIL v3 Foundations Certification.
  • Experience with Enterprise Backup software.
  • Experience writing shell scripts and utility programs for Windows system maintenance.
  • Experience working with LAN/WAN and wireless interfaces.
  • Experience with SCCM methodologies.
