About the position

The Desktop Engineer - Sr. position at Oneida Technical Solutions, LLC involves providing advanced technical support and engineering for Microsoft Windows Active Directory environments. The role focuses on migrating Windows Active Directory from older versions to the latest, ensuring compliance with security standards, and collaborating with various teams to implement effective migration strategies. Candidates must possess a SECRET security clearance and relevant Microsoft certifications, along with strong communication skills to interact with government clients and senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Support Windows Active Directory migration from 2003/2008 to 2012 or the most recent version.
  • Collaborate with Server Operations, application, and middleware teams to develop and implement migration strategies.
  • Manage Microsoft Active Directory, including the implementation of Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and STIG settings.
  • Maintain and configure Microsoft Windows servers in multi-tenant enterprise environments.
  • Utilize Remedy Ticketing system for issue tracking and resolution.
  • Ensure compliance of Windows operating systems with STIG standards.
  • Work with virtual infrastructure, including VMWare, and manage large-scale datacenter operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of six years of experience in desktop engineering and Microsoft Windows environments.
  • Must be a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA).
  • Experience with Remedy Ticketing system (ARS).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience managing Microsoft Active Directory and implementing GPOs.
  • Experience with Windows migrations and Active Directory upgrades.
  • Experience with Windows Server 2003, 2008, and 2012.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Riverbed SteelFusion.
  • Experience with Enterprise Backup software.
  • Experience with SCCM methodologies.
  • ITIL v3 Foundations Certification.
  • Experience writing shell scripts and utility programs for Windows system maintenance.
