About the position

The Desktop Engineer - Junior position at Oneida Technical Solutions, LLC involves providing IT support and solutions in a highly regulated environment, specifically for the U.S. Army's 7th Signal Command. The role requires a minimum of one year of experience in desktop engineering, with a focus on managing Microsoft Active Directory and implementing security settings. Candidates must possess a SECRET security clearance and demonstrate strong communication skills, as they will interact with government customers and senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Microsoft Active Directory, including the implementation of Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to support STIG settings.
  • Assist in Windows migrations and Active Directory upgrades.
  • Build, configure, and manage Microsoft Windows servers in multi-tenant enterprise environments.
  • Maintain hardened Windows operating systems to STIG compliance.
  • Work with Enterprise Backup software and ensure data integrity.
  • Support large-scale datacenter design and operations.
  • Utilize VB/Powershell for automation of common functions.
  • Manage virtual infrastructure, specifically VMWare.
  • Interact with government customers and senior leadership effectively.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in desktop engineering or related field.
  • Must possess a fully adjudicated SECRET security clearance or higher.
  • IAT II, T3, and Security + certifications are mandatory.
  • Experience with Windows migrations and Active Directory upgrades.
  • Experience managing Microsoft Active Directory and implementing GPOs.
  • Experience with Windows Server 2003, 2008, and 2012, including STIG deployment.
  • Experience with Enterprise Backup software and maintaining compliance.
  • Experience with virtual infrastructure (VMWare) and LAN/WAN interfaces.

Nice-to-haves

  • ITIL v3 Foundations Certification.
  • Experience writing shell scripts and utility programs for Windows maintenance.
  • Experience with SCCM methodologies.
  • Experience working with web servers, databases, and security scanning tools.
