About the position

The Desktop Engineer and Systems Analyst at Aspen Aerogels is responsible for administering desktop and lifecycle management while assisting with server infrastructure oversight. This role requires exceptional customer service and communication skills, as it supports multiple professional levels with competing needs. The candidate must be adept at analyzing critical resolution paths, managing a fast-paced environment, and thriving in a team-oriented atmosphere. The position also involves working after business hours and on weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Support VMware virtual Infrastructure storage and network systems
  • Support on-premise and cloud business applications
  • Assist with defining, procurement, and implementation systems consistent with business policies and guidelines
  • Microsoft InTune management for PC and iOS device management
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and support partners in supporting plant operations
  • Identify, research and resolve Help Desk tickets in an efficient and timely manner
  • Respond to telephone calls, instant messages, and email for technical requests
  • Document, track and monitor all issues to ensure a timely resolution
  • Support, monitor, test and troubleshoot hardware and software problems
  • Assist end users in A/V needs for meetings and presentations
  • Maintain rotation of backup media and co-ordination of offsite storage with Aspen's storage vendor
  • Maintain all facets of the end user machines through system imaging, patching of and software deployment using Aspen's administration system
  • Maintain, improve and organize the IT team's administration system through documentation, asset tracking and ticket closure
  • Take leadership in finding new ways to support end users by suggesting improved processes, new IT toolsets and educating end users
  • Assist with day-to-day operational tasks
  • Create and maintain process documents as needed
  • Assist with departmental cross training
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years managing large scale IT - providing desktop support and systems analyst admin type role (on-premise and remote) with a Microsoft desktop and server infrastructure
  • 3+ years prior experience in manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience troubleshooting and working with Windows and iOS based operating systems in a multi-functional, multi-location environment
  • Experience with Windows server administration and support of an active directory environment
  • Networking experience including wireless networks and access points and client side supporting hardware for wireless networks
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365, Outlook, and other desktop applications
  • Experience troubleshooting print and imaging devices for Mac/PC based end users
  • Proactively working with Systems Administrator providing clear documentation and details of steps taken to resolve in a timely manner
  • Communicate effectively with end users throughout the process of troubleshooting and ticket resolution as well as provide guidance on best use of technology as it pertains to enforcing IT Policy and Procedures
