About the position
The Design Department Manager at Roush is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the design department, implementing company policies, and enhancing operational systems. This role involves managing financial aspects, staff performance, and strategic goal setting while collaborating with other departments to identify growth opportunities and ensure customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Manage the Design Department activities including financial management, P&L, forecasting, staffing, facility management, CAD equipment and licensing, and customer satisfaction.
- Monitor and evaluate staff performance including productivity, quality, and goal setting.
- Set strategic long and short-term operational goals and evaluate performance.
- Develop business projections on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Ensure compliance with Quality System procedures and work instructions.
- Work with the Business Development Team to pursue sales opportunities and grow revenue streams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or 10 years of proven relevant experience in a similar leadership role.
- Minimum 10 years of design or engineering supervisory experience managing a group of employees.
- Experience leading a program team with CAD resources.
- Experience in program management including risk analysis and performance to budget.
- Experience maintaining current and developing new customer relationships.
- Experience with cost estimating, quoting, and negotiating.
- Knowledge in various CAD software systems, PLM packages, and design procedures.
- Advanced organizational skills and the ability to assemble teams to manage and execute programs.
- Advanced interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced computer skills and knowledge in MS Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
