About The Position

The Deputy Title IX Coordinator supports the work of the Title IX Coordinator by assisting with the administration, coordination and implementation of the University's Title IX compliance and response efforts, including regulatory requirements and University policies related to sex- and gender-based discrimination including sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, and other forms of sexual misconduct. The Deputy Title IX Coordinator supports the Title IX Coordinator in developing and implementing a long‑term strategic plan for institutional adherence to Title IX and related policies and procedures, including associated programs, services, and education and outreach for students, staff, and faculty. This position also supports the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer in ensuring compliance with civil rights laws related to protected class status, including Title VI and related federal and state laws and University policies. The Deputy Title IX Coordinator may act on behalf of the Title IX Coordinator when delegated. The role ensures University community members are knowledgeable of statutory, regulatory, and University-established ethics, culture, value, and standards of conduct requirements/expectations; support the creation and implementation of University compliance policies and procedures; keep abreast of regulatory requirements; conduct compliance audits and investigations; provide non-compliant remediation and monitoring, and conduct compliance education and training. This position is housed within the University's Office of Ethics and Compliance, which oversees a broad range of compliance functions and promotes adherence to the University's core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, discovery, excellence, and community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 6+ years of relevant experience (if filled as Compliance Specialist - Senior Professional); or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted
  • 3+ years of relevant experience (if filled as Compliance Specialist - Advanced Professional); or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted
  • PA State Police Criminal Background Check
  • PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form
  • Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

  • Relevant training or certifications related to Title IX and Title VI

Responsibilities

  • Support the Title IX Coordinator in the administration of all duties and responsibilities to ensure institutional compliance with Title IX and related federal and state laws and University policies related to sex- based discrimination.
  • May act on behalf of the Title IX Coordinator when delegated.
  • Support the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer in the administration of all duties and responsibilities for Title VI-related cases involving student respondents, including conducting intake interviews and case management for non-sex-based complaints under the University’s non-discrimination policy and procedure AD 91 and all other relevant policies, including the Code of Conduct.
  • This includes ensuring timely and complete investigations and any relevant adjudicatory processes.
  • May act on behalf of the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer when delegated.
  • Organize and maintain grievance files, disposition reports, and other compiled records regarding complaints of sexual harassment and other gender discriminatory practices and prepare annual statistical reports on the incidences of gender and sexual harassment and sexual misconduct.
  • Organize and maintain grievance files, disposition reports, and other compiled records regarding Title VI-related, non-sex-based complaints and prepare annual statistical reports on the incidences of other protected class discrimination involving student respondents.
  • Support institution-wide education, training, and outreach programming related to Title VI and Title IX.
