About the position

This position is for a lateral application to join the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office as a Patrol Deputy/Officer. The role offers a competitive wage range of $32.14 to $40.70 per hour, which includes a $0.50 shift differential. New hires are eligible for hiring and relocation bonuses of up to $7,500. The position provides extensive paid training and access to a comprehensive benefits package, including a pension plan with a 14.65% employer contribution and a lifetime payout upon retirement. Additionally, the role is eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program, allowing for potential student loan forgiveness for qualifying employees.

Responsibilities

• Provide necessary services to the community as a Patrol Deputy/Officer.
• Engage in ongoing paid educational and training opportunities.
• Participate in special teams opportunities such as SWAT, K9, Dive Team, and more.
• Complete the Field Training Program successfully to take home a patrol car.

Requirements

• Must meet all minimum requirements as an entry-level applicant.
• High School Diploma or GED required; no college degree necessary.
• Minimum of 24 months experience as a Patrol Deputy/Officer.
• Successfully completed a Basic POST Academy and are a certified Peace Officer.
• Possess or have the ability to obtain a driver's license and be insurable.
• Must be at least 21 years old.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in law enforcement or related fields.
• Military experience is a plus.
