About the position

The Deputy Sheriff - Courts & Transports position is a part-time role focused on inmate transportation and court appearance escort services. The role requires a certified law enforcement officer with significant experience to enforce state and local laws, respond to emergencies, and perform various law enforcement duties under supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Transport inmates to and from court appearances.
  • Escort inmates during court proceedings.
  • Enforce state and local laws and ordinances.
  • Respond to calls for protection of life and property.
  • Conduct investigations and make arrests as necessary.
  • Perform assigned law enforcement and public safety duties in various areas such as detention, patrol, and community services.
  • Work non-traditional hours, including weekends and holidays, as required.

Requirements

  • Must be a current or former certified law enforcement officer.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years' experience as a certified law enforcement officer.
  • Good standing with current or previous agency prior to departure.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalency required; some college courses in criminal justice preferred.
  • Idaho driver's license and Idaho POST certification within one year of hire.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation, including a polygraph examination.

Benefits

  • Hourly wage of $23.44.
  • Part-time work with approximately 19.5 hours per week.
