About The Position

The Deputy Public Defender III position provides legal services to adult defendants in criminal cases, or minors charged with criminal offenses in the Juvenile Court. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the area of criminal law and the ability to communicate effectively, are able to hold self and others accountable, demonstrate ethical behavior, drive to excel, maximize team effectiveness, are supportive of change, and stay current with new technology and trends in their profession.

Requirements

• Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California.
• One (1) year of experience as a Deputy Public Defender II in the San Diego County Public Defender's Office; OR
• One (1) year of experience as an attorney at an equivalent level with another California county or city, state or federal agency; OR
• Three (3) years of experience as an attorney at an equivalent level in the practice of criminal and/or civil law.
