About the position

The Deputy Marshal position in Fulton County, GA, is an entry-level law enforcement role responsible for providing specialized court-related services to the State and Magistrate Courts. The role involves enforcing laws, serving civil documents, executing eviction writs, and making arrests on criminal warrants. This position requires successful completion of a 90-day training period before becoming eligible for probationary status.

Responsibilities

  • Enforces federal and state laws and local ordinances and makes necessary arrests.
  • Investigates suspected offenses and interviews victims and/or witnesses.
  • Analyzes evidence and statements to determine if probable cause exists to arrest suspect.
  • Issues citations to suspects in lieu of making custodial arrests.
  • Restrains and transports suspects after arrest and performs searches to detect weapons and evidence of crime.
  • Executes criminal arrest warrants and ensures conformity to legal standards.
  • Receives and reviews Writs of Possession and schedules execution dates with plaintiffs.
  • Serves civil processes and interprets court orders, levies, and attachments.
  • Provides security for Fulton County State and Magistrate Courts as a Bailiff.
  • Communicates with departmental staff, other law enforcement agencies, and the general public.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required, supplemented by vocational or technical training in criminal justice or a related field.
  • One year of work experience in law enforcement or a related field.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.
  • Must obtain and maintain Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Certification within one year of employment.
